Baked Full Chicken

I created this recipe as our grill recently doesn’t work and I honestly never tried to make a whole chicken before. So I decided to bake one. It turned out amazing and up until growing and butchering chickens I have never had a farm fresh chicken. Prep time is about maybe 10 minute and it bakes for 1 hour and 15 minutes or until thermometer reads 165 degrees F (74 degrees C). I hope you enjoy!

Ingredients

  • Whole Chicken

  • 1 full stick of butter

  • Seasoning of your choice- I use garlic powder, chicken seasoning, salt and pepper

  • Olive Oil

  • (optional- celery stalks, leaves removed)

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C)

  2. Place chicken in roasting pan, rub oil on outside of chicken. Season chicken to your liking on outside and inside stick whole stick of butter inside the chicken as well as season inside of the chicken.

  3. Bake chicken uncovered in preheated oven until no longer pink at the bone and juices run clear, about 1 hour and 15 minutes. at instant-reader thermometer inserted into thickest part of the thigh, near the bone, should read 165 degrees F (74 degrees C).

  4. remove from oven and baste with drippings. cover with aluminum foil and allow to rest for 30 mins before serving.
